reckless abandonment

So it has been over two years now since I was involved in a mens small group at my university led by a campus pastor.  The men in this group and the pastor that led it have been some of the most influential people in my life.  The rationale for the small group was to sit under the teaching of this pastor over many weeks.  Each week was a new discussion on a "core value" from his life.  The charge was that this small group would be a launching pad for those of us in it to write our own "mission-purpose statement" that would guide our walk with Christ as young men.  A concise and clear biblical mission-purpose statement that would act as a filter for every facet of our lives.  The pastor's MP statement was titled "King for Christ" (he aptly named the small group "Kings of the Round" as homage).  My best friend who was also in the group called his "Son-burnt".  Both these two have made a full book explaining their mission purpose statement and keep it close.  I have made attempts at finishing mine, but haven't fully done so.  It includes the mission-purpose statement and a list of all our biblical core values.

Anyway, having given the background, here is my mission-purpose statement: Reckless Abandonment

"Recklessly abandoned to my own will and desires; wholly bound to the will and kingdom of God."

I have been living my life through this filter for the past two-ish years now and as I have God has refined Scriptures that directs this filter.  I can't really give any more explanation to this statement or try interpret it through my own words.  So I am going to list Scripture (all ESV) and let it speak for itself.  Hopefully if you come across this it will challenge your own walk with God.

Titus 2:14
"who gave himself (Jesus Christ) for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works." (brackets added for context)

Galatians 2:20
"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

Romans 14:7-9
"For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living."

1 Corinthians 4:1-2
"This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.  Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy."

John 4:23
"Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work."

Luke 9:62
"Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
